Zu einem Spiel in Sevilla

Sevilla and Real Betis's El Gran Derbi is, by most Spanish football fans' reckoning, the most ferocious local rivalry in the country, dating back to a 1907 split inside Sevilla FC itself. For the 2025–27 seasons, Betis are playing their home matches away from their usual Benito Villamarín, at the city's La Cartuja stadium, while it is rebuilt.

Where does Real Betis actually play right now?

Since the 2025/26 season, Real Betis have played their home league matches at the Estadio de La Cartuja on a temporary basis while the Benito Villamarín is redeveloped, with a return to their own ground planned for the rebuild's completion.

Why is the Sevilla–Betis rivalry so intense?

The split dates to 1907, when a group of Sevilla FC members walked out over the club's refusal to sign a player from the working-class Triana district; Sevilla has since been seen as the city's establishment club and Betis as the people's club, and the two have contested the fixture since 1915.

When is El Gran Derbi played this season?

Sevilla hosts the first Gran Derbi of 2026/27 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on matchday 13 (the weekend of 22 November 2026), with the return leg at La Cartuja on matchday 23 (7 February 2027), Betis's home venue while the Villamarín is rebuilt.
